Both kilowatts (kW) and horsepower (hp) are two common units of measuring power. Kilowatt is an SI unit which is used mainly for various scientific calculations and to express the value of power generated by any sort of engine or motor in our daily life. Horsepower is an old type unit of power which is currently used in Europe only as a supplementary one. Very misleading in regard to electrics:

Electrics generate 100% of their torque at zero RPM, and across all RPMs, whereas for fossil engines - this is only a peak; it's never as high from a standing start. This means - all else being equal - an electric will be far faster at all speeds than a fossil (petrol/diesel), and most importantly of all - from launch.

You need to point this out when listing the two, since this is exactly what people relate the values as representing.
